Photo Essay: Graffiti Stickers Across Europe

An expression of yourself? Sending a message to society? Trying to rebel? Creating a bit of humour? There are so many reasons for graffiti stickers, and so many different kinds being stuck on walls, windows, light poles, traffic lights, stop signs and sidewalks all over the world.

While travelling around Europe I was amazed by the number of graffiti stickers covering the public areas in the big cities. We don’t really get too many graffiti stickers in South Africa, I’m not sure why. Possibly because not everyone has the resources to firstly design the sticker and secondly get them all printed. Or possibly we’re still going to catch up with this trend, I don’t know. I’m not too clued in on the graffiti movement.

I loved spotting the stickers while walking through the city streets and tried to take as many photo’s as I could of them. I think that they are a sort of window into the happenings of the city. By seeing the trends of the stickers stuck around the city, you can almost tell what sort of people are living there. Whether they are artsy, fun loving, cheeky, deep and soulful, angry, lost or just looking to make some kind of impact on the society around them.

Here are a few of the graffiti stickers that I came across while travelling across Europe.
